Hopefully, this interests someone. Today, I'm re-starting my journey to obtain my CISSP certification. I plan on posting updates on Linkedin. My goal is to inspire others and add accountability to my goal.

I've scheduled my test for March 3rd. Last year I read chapters 1-11 in the isc2 Study guide. Life happened and the book started gathering dust.

A couple of things inspired me to jump back in.

  1. I talked to my old boss, who recently obtained the certification. Talking about it got me excited again. Also, he offered to send me his study materials. Thank you D

  2. My passion for security. Every company can tighten its security. There are also so many companies that are so very far behind the curve. I want to hone my skills and hopefully use them to help the next company I'm with.

  3. Time - I'm unemployed. I have all the time in the world. Also, hopefully having the CISSP certification will help cure my status of "unemployed." I've had a lot of close calls for jobs in the last couple months. This will make a difference on the jobs I'll be considered for.

Tools I'll start with:

  1. Years of IT experience

  2. ISC2 Study guide and practice tests

  3. Pen an paper.

  4. Notion.so - Notes

  5. Toggl - Time tracker

  6. Additonal study materials that D sent me.
